“Success is in the numbers”

Sometimes you get up in the morning and the energy is just not there to move forward on all the glorious plans you had just the day before. Negative thoughts sink in and you begin to self-doubt

. Each of the reasons why this business idea of yours won’t work starts filling every available space in your brain. You want to give up. You feel stuck. You feel alone on your journey and you begin to wonder, why bother? Is it even worth it? It would be so easy to just lay back, watch Netflix, eat, sleep, bathe, repeat. But, nothing worth having in life is easy, is it?

The late Jim Rohn, entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker, was at a seminar one time when he linked the freedom that comes with truth-telling and affirmations. He said the freedom of the truth allows us to face things as they are and make changes. He affirmed for the audience “I am poor” and told them to write it down and stick it on the fridge where they’ll see it daily, as a reminder to do something about it. If you want something different for yourself and for your family, you must act differently.

Jim Rohn also said that success is in the numbers. If you want your business to be successful, how many hours have you dedicated to advertising your business, to improve your services and your products, to improve your health so you can perform the best at your business, to educate yourself so you know more of what you need to know about your business? How many books have you read in the past month, how many hours of rest, how many self-development workshops have you attended to create a better version of you?

Success is in the numbers. What is the level of success you’re aiming for and how will you know when you have achieved it? In 2017, it was reported that 20% of the Trinidad and Tobago population lived below the poverty line. That amounts to approximately 260,000 to 280,000 of our local population who can barely afford to feed and provide shelter for themselves and their families. The easy thing is always to give up and do what is comfortable. But if you want a better life than what you have now, you need to make the decision to take small steps toward changing your mindset and in so doing, changing your life.

Where you are now is a sum total of the person you have become. If you are not where you want to be, change. Change your decisions, your philosophies, your way of doing things, that brings you back to the place you don’t want to be. We have all come to this earth with our gifts inside of us. Do not allow the shadows of one day to cast permanent darkness over the rest of your life. You can do this. Reassess your position if you have to, check your numbers and just keep moving. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be consistent.
