1. "Celebrate endings—for they precede new beginnings." - Jonathan Lockwood Huie
This year, (2021), may have brought the end to many things. Whether it be networks, business ventures, jobs, or friendships. However, there is one thing that an ending can always promise you - a new beginning. No matter what was cut short or forced to end this year, look for the light in the darkness. If you lost a job, see an opportunity to start a new career or a new business. If you lost your business, see an opportunity to learn and start again. The key to conquering 2022 lies in these words - never be afraid to start again.
2. “The best is yet to come” - Frank Sinatra
This is always guaranteed. When things seem dark around you, always remember that it can’t always be like that. This is a great attitude to begin the year with. No matter what comes your way. The best is coming. You will always get what you deserve and what you work for, and work hard to achieve it. Maybe this will be a great time to start keeping a journal. Write down the bad and the good things that happen and what you learned from them. Keep note of the times you felt hopeless, then when good things come your way. You can periodically peruse your journal and feel grateful for your powerful journey. The journey makes you strong!
3. “Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘it will be happier’ - Alfred Lord Tennyson
Your happiness begins with your mindset. In 2022, allow yourself to hope that things will get better. Things will be happier. Don’t let your external circumstances determine your happiness. Let it come from a new life of positive thinking. You can develop habits that make you more hopeful and happier. You can keep a journal, keep up with friends and family, mark the milestones in life and do the things you’ve always wanted to do. If you’ve always wanted to start a new business or a new venture, now is the time. You can also invest in a new hobby that can eventually turn into a business.
4. “Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes the conditions perfect.” - Alan Cohen
We have all learned over the last year how to make the best of not-so-ideal circumstances. Whether it’s your personal life, the economy, the state of the industry you’re in, or your finances, you do not have to wait until everything falls into place. You can start your new year with the knowledge that once you start on the right foot, you are opening a world of opportunities in business and in your personal life.
5. “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” - C.S. Lewis
Whatever hurts, disappointments, or setbacks you faced in 2021 cannot compare to the hope and joy that is arriving in 2022. You can learn from your mistakes and move forward with confident assurance that good things are going to come your way.
